Welcome to Microfiction Monday, at
Stony River: a writing life, where a picture paints 140 characters, or even fewer.[Hate counting letters and spaces? Try
Design 215's character counter, which will count for you as you type. Microsoft Word will count for you too, of course, as part of its word count feature under the 'Review' tab.] Here's this week's picture, and my story to go with it.
15 was a sign, Noreen just knew it. After 14 long, lonely years with Joe and his tirades, the #15 would take her where he couldn't find her. (140 characters)
Hope there are no Noreens in your life; if there are, I hope they find their "#15." Have a great week, everyone.
Lucky 15 for Noreen. She should go to Vegas and play # 15. A winner for sure.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope Monday brings good luck as I have to return to work after a week off. Then again, if I can catch a train.... ;)
ReplyDeleteLucky 15 it is!! Great one as always, Michael! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Good one. I noticed the number on the train but couldn't figure out how to use it. Getting away from abuse is something that should always be encouraged, too.

Very nice take on the picture. Good luck and lucky numbers sits well with me.

Very clever my friend. You captured the photo well :) Have a great week ahead :)
ReplyDeleteOOOOh Michael,
ReplyDeleteI hope the number 15 is lucky for her and she gets far, far away from that Joe person! Good for her - it takes guts to do that! Neat MM! Thanks for your nice comments on mine today - I appreciate the encouragement.

Great Job!
ReplyDeleteI thought about using the number myself!
I like how you tied the 14 years with Joe to the #15, 15 being her freedom year. Very clever. Poor lady; I hope she finds happiness.
ReplyDeleteMichael, you are sooooo clever! :)
ReplyDelete15 is a lucky number for Noreen, I can tell. And bad luck for Joe. At let us all hope all this is right.
..
This is a good sign! The #15 is also The City of New Orleans. Noreen meets Ann on the train!
ReplyDeleteAnn and Noreen become the best of friends. They chit chat for hours. They exchange recipes and swap magazines!
ReplyDeleteAbout time her luck turned around... good one!
ReplyDeleteVery good one, well done!
ReplyDeleteGreat variation on the Great Escape ;-)
ReplyDelete15 is a good place to start afresh!
ReplyDeleteVery clever. I love the way you took the number of the train and used it as part of the story!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week x
Observant! A very creative use of a small photo detail! It takes on a cameo role!
ReplyDeleteNice escape micro story!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to her!!! :O)
ReplyDeleteLets hope #15 takes Noreen far far away from Joe. Very nice Michael, poignant and moving.
ReplyDeleteI like this...Good luck Norren! ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice MM.
Oh gosh, I want a sign! A winning lottery ticket would be great!
ReplyDeleteHope she gets that freedom she needs.
ReplyDeleteI really like the intensity of this one! I pray Noreen finds the peace she deserves.
ReplyDeleteTurn that page Noreen! there's a happy ever after ending in there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I didn't even notice the number 15 on the train. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI loved this-it definitely would have been the start of a good read!
ReplyDeleteYAY, Noreen!
