Microfiction Monday: No April Fool

Welcome to Microfiction Monday, at Stony River: a writing life, where a picture paints 140 characters, or even fewer.

[Hate counting letters and spaces? Try Design 215's character counter, which will count for you as you type. Microsoft Word will count for you too, of course, as part of its word count feature under the 'Review' tab.] Here's this week's picture, and my story to go with it.

April 1st was never Sebastian's favorite day. An empty biscuit jar and garish flowers in his tea cup: who was the monster behind this?

I'm ba-aack! Have missed this blog and all you microfictioneers. I'll put up a post later in the week about what I've been up to--after I've caught up on my sleep and all the other things in my inbox.

  1. Great to see you back, Michael, and I love your MF for the day! I know just how Sebastian feels! Frequently have a monster messing with my day!! Hope your week goes well!

Poor Sebastian, was he played to be the fool.
I don't know about anybody else. but
I sure hate an empty biscuit jar. :)

  3. Sebastian should learn to chill and go with the flow, especially on April Fool's Day! He can always get even with the monster next year.

I like your unique take on the photo. Well done!

  5. Inboxes get VERY scary after time away don't they? I hope your catch-up time goes well, and it's good to see you again!

(that lobster rather DOES look like Sebastian, doesn't he? I hadn't noticed yet!)

  6. Poor Sebastian. Maybe the flowers were supposed to be a nice gesture?

  8. It could have been much worse. The little crab needs to lighten up!

  9. Poor Sebastian. Pink and blue do clash. Still, at least he was sent flowers!

  10. Poor Sebastian, sounds as if he needs a new circle of friends. Just watch those with Boiling Water.
